If it was another author, I might not have had the patience for it. That takes nearly the entire book to understand. The hero has some mystery and hidden secrets, even as you start to like him more, and there are not much in the way of hints to give insight on what is behind the facade. I still love it and could re-read it tomorrow if I had the time, but I would just note that it does start off showing the H&H in rather unfavorable lights and it takes awhile to unpack that.
